The Hudson Mohawk Chapter of the American Truck Historical Society serves antique truck enthusiasts in northeastern New York. The Chapter’s primary focus since its inception in 1990 has been preserving antique trucks and the trucking history in upstate New York. Each September, the Chapter hosts an antique truck show at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds in Ballston Spa, NY. Recent shows have attracted nearly 300 antique trucks from seven states and Canada as well as over 4000 spectators.
The club has monthly meetings and each month the club tries to have either a speaker related to the trucking industry or go on a field trip to a local business of interest. Periodically, the club will take bus trips. The most recent was when the club chartered a bus to the Tackaberry Truck Collection in Athens Ontario, Canada. Other past trips included the Golden Age of Trucking Museum and Pfahl’s Truck Restoration Shop in Connecticut, the Mahan Truck Collection in Basking Ridge, NJ, and the Yawaorski collection in Cambridge, CT. We have awarded numerous trucking pioneers in northeastern New York with an ATHS Founders’ Award and had a number of articles about chapter events published in Wheels of Time.
Each year the club makes the holiday season a little more enjoyable for several needy families in the area. The chapter members enjoyed a very pleasant family dinner at the Elks Club in January.
